Shaun Downey: Mauve Rose

We started the countdown with a painting by Kelly Grace, and we are now ending it with a piece by her husband, Shaun Downey-bringing the project full circle. This quiet, dreamlike work is steeped in softness, both in palette and atmosphere. The figure, almost too neatly styled, stands amidst hazy, pink-toned blooms, his composed pose interrupted only by the vague melancholy in his expression. Downey’s highly controlled realism merges with a surreal garden setting, creating a mood that’s both romantic and oddly distant.
