The online exhibition VERMEER on Tour: European Group Show 2026 opened on September 15. For two months, through November 15, it gathers (hyper)realist painting by eight contemporary artists in a dedicated space on vermeer-magazine.com. Tomorrow, September 19, VERMEER will also appear in person at the EuropArtFair Maastricht at MECC Maastricht, with the magazine and an excerpt from the group show. The fair runs through September 20. Selected works will later travel to the Discovery Art Fair Frankfurt, October 29 to November 1.
The eight artists are Chiara Albertoni, Julie Biver, Jacques Bodin, Christoph Eberle, Chris Klein, Lorena Kloosterboer, Agnès Lefèvre, and Gerd Lieder. We introduced Albertoni last week. This time we turn to Julie Biver.
Julie Biver
Julie Biver is an emerging Luxembourgish artist whose work has drawn growing attention within the country’s young contemporary scene. Her practice encompasses painting and visual experimentation. On the VERMEER pages she is listed for Luxembourg and Germany.
In 2025 she was selected for the fourth Biennale for art students and young artists in Vianden, organized by ViArt in collaboration with the Cercle Artistique de Luxembourg. Her work received the First Prize of the 2025 Biennale. The award also led to participation in the Salon du CAL and an artist residency in Vianden in 2026. She has further been recognized through the JuKoWo youth art platform in Differdange, with an award from Luxembourg’s National Youth Service.
VERMEER presents two of her paintings, both from 2026 and both in oil on canvas:
- Alcohol & cigarettes are bad m’kay, 60 × 80 cm
- The Road So Far, 100 × 150 cm
The Road So Far brings an unusual perspective to VERMEER on Tour. Seen from the back seat of an old car, the large-scale painting places us directly opposite two figures as they turn toward us. Inspired by the television series Supernatural, the work combines Biver’s precise figurative painting with warm light and a scene that carries a slightly mysterious atmosphere.
The painting is available through VERMEER on Tour. Enquiries can be made directly through the website, or by writing to editorial@vermeer-magazine.com.
Biver is the second of eight. The others will follow.
