Lorena Kloosterboer, born in 1962 in the Netherlands, is a Dutch-Argentine artist who lives and works in Antwerp, Belgium. She is internationally known for her contemporary realist and hyperrealist still lifes, combining meticulous technique with elegant, carefully constructed compositions. Her paintings explore the subtle interplay of light, colour, shadows, textures, and reflections, transforming everyday objects into highly refined visual experiences.
Strongly inspired by the still lifes of the Dutch Golden Age, Kloosterboer gives traditional subjects a distinctly contemporary character. Glass, ceramics, metal, flowers, and animals appear in compositions that often contain symbolic references to life, wisdom, awareness, and growth. Beneath their extraordinary technical precision, her paintings therefore invite a more contemplative reading.
Over a career spanning more than four decades, Kloosterboer has exhibited widely in Europe, North America, and Asia and has received numerous awards. She is also a sculptor, author, and founding member of the International Guild of Realism. Her work demonstrates how meticulous realism can combine visual beauty with intellectual and symbolic depth.
