From the Page to the Wall | VERMEER Magazine presents art for the first time—online and at two fairs

 

After three published issues and two years of focused work online, VERMEER Magazine is now opening the space between the printed page and the exhibition hall. What began as an international magazine for contemporary realism – an invitation to give the good, the true, and the beautiful in painting a voice once more – is now stepping into public view in the Fall of 2026: live, specific, and with an exhibition of its own. “VERMEER on Tour: European Group Show 2026” presents works of (hyper)realist painting by eight selected contemporary artists.

The names themselves map the present landscape of realism. And here they are:

Eight perspectives that do not merely depict what is visible, but intensify the artists’ views. Anyone who knows VERMEER knows that technique is never an end in itself. What matters is light that lingers on glass and metal; still lifes in which the everyday becomes memory; surfaces so precise they slow the act of looking. The exhibition aims to awaken curiosity for exactly that moment when a painting shows more of the world than a passing glance could ever hold.

The online presentation is the heart of “VERMEER on Tour: European Group Show 2026”: it gathers the selected works in a dedicated, editorially shaped space and remains open for two months, while the fairs show excerpts on site.

The EuropArtFair takes place on September 19 and 20 at MECC Maastricht: a professional art fair for individual artists, where visitors can see visual art by more than 100 artists from across Europe—painting, sculpture, glass, photography, and more. Emerging talents and established voices present and sell their work without gallery intermediaries. This edition also features a large booth with works by no fewer than 23 Masters of Realism—the international elite of realist painting and drawing. Discovery Art Fair Frankfurt | October 29 – November 1, 2026 | discoveryartfair.com

 

The stage in Frankfurt will be larger still. The Discovery Art Fair, the discovery fair for contemporary art, opens on October 29, 2026, and runs from October 30 to November 1 in Hall 1.2 at Messe Frankfurt (City entrance, Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage 1). Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For the ninth time, it brings together more than 100 international exhibitors in the banking and art metropolis—including numerous respected galleries alongside professional artists and independent art projects. The audience is correspondingly broad: collectors, professionals, first-time buyers, and a far larger, internationally drawn public than at many artist-only fairs. In a relaxed, conversational atmosphere, galleries, studios, and viewers meet; originals change hands; conversations begin in front of the works themselves. The range extends from large-scale painting to pocket-size editions, from drawing and printmaking to sculpture, mixed media, photography, and urban art.
